CCR wins contract from Land.NRW for the automation of building processes

The renovation of building envelopes is gaining increasing market potential from an economic and sustainable point of view and is confronted with increasingly drastic challenges due to the shortage of skilled workers. By 2030, the market potential of building envelope refurbishment is estimated at 400 billion euros with a demand of over 300,000 employees. This corresponds to an increase of more than 50% of the current number of employees, which so far can only be met under the difficult circumstances. Aspects such as the risk of accidents, high physical stress or the low diversity on the construction site have a negative impact on the job profile and are having an increasingly effect on the labor market.

The Center Construction Robotics aims to automate the renovation of building envelopes through construction robotics to counteract the shortage of skilled workers. With the research project “Enable Renovation 4.0”, the state of North Rhine-Westphalia is supporting with the funding program “Digitization of the Construction Industry and Innovative Construction”. Over a period of two years, the program will enable us to work on the further development of an assistance system for the automated assembly and handling of facade panels, thus making a contribution to the construction site of the future. We would like to thank our CCR industry partners, whose knowledge and practical experience provide us with the necessary expertise for an application-oriented design and realization.
