Consortial center activity starts with immatriculation of PORR AG

Enabler and process owners from construction industry start joint research activity at the Center Construction Robotics

With the immatriculation of PORR AG, the Center Construction Robotics (CCR) gains one of the largest construction companies in Austria and one of the leading European construction companies for collaborative research. Together with the chairs of the RWTH Aachen University (Individualized Production, Sustainable Metal Building Envelopes, WZL – Production Metrology and Quality Management) and the existing industrial consortium of the center, PORR AG pursues the goal of digitizing and automating construction processes with focus on the construction site itself.

As the first construction company in the CCR, PORR AG represents an important part of the construction value chain and now allows for joint research by process owners and enablers in the CCR to develop new, innovative processes and products for the construction industry.

As a kick-off to this joint research activity, a lively workshop took place on the RWTH Aachen Campus following the ceremonial enrolment of PORR AG. The active members from science and industry of the center explored cross-member research interests and a common research agenda. This means that the first consortium study of the Construction Robotics Center can now be launched shortly.
